This was lovely, Carole! That’s one of my favorite Christmas songs, too. “And in His name all oppression will cease” is a prophetic confession that gives me chills every time I hear it.
I wrote about the song three years ago – one of those very special moments in life: https://caroleduff.wordpress.com/2015/12/28/o-holy-night/
The song still gives me chills. -C.D.
My favorite carol. As a French teacher I sing it in French, where the gospel is clearly stated – that Jesus was the “God-man,” that it was for us that He was born, that He suffered and died, to erase the original stain and stop the curse… I’m usually crying by the time I finish…
Crying—you and many others, myself included and more so now. Thank you for your comment. -C.D.
What a beautiful story about the evolution of your faith. I love how the lines of the song were used to show different stages in your life.
Thank you so much, Laurie. My hope was to encourage others as I have been.
Love following your blog! -C.D.
