Something Different This Week

SquareFootGarden_August2018Encouraged by last week’s rain, my square-foot garden’s squash, tomatoes, and cucumbers leaped beyond the confines of their boxes—as you can see. All other vegetation here at Vanaprastha grew happily, too, including weeds. Thus, in the light of today’s sunshine, instead of eating bonbons and writing a new blog post, I’m washing two reluctant dogs, scrubbing dirty paw prints off floors, and pruning less-desirable enthusiasms in nature and me.

Just so you don’t go away empty-handed, here’s a guest post I wrote for The Perennial Gen: https://theperennialgen.com/building-retirement/. The story, published yesterday, is about how Keith and I built our home together. Many thanks to perennials Michelle Van Loon and Amanda Cleary Eastep for providing a place for writers of faith who are “growing deeper roots in the dirt and light of midlife.”

See you back here next Monday! –C.D.
