Last week, I wrote about my son at age 10, the beginning of the double digits. This week, I begin the New Year with a story about my daughter when she was 10 years old. As recorded in a letter to my parents, here is what she wrote on her marker board on January 2, 1991:
I was impressed then smiled when I saw “Wipe off as needed by Jan. 15, 1991” written off to the side.
Thinking about Jessica’s resolutions and with a hat tip to good writers and conversationalists, I came up with my list for 2012:
- Finish the book.
- Develop entertaining topics.
- Leave boring laundry lists at home where they belong.
- Listen to difficult people without crossing arms over chest.
- Stretch every day.
- Lose 5 pounds and keep them off.
Reassess on December 31, 2012.
What resolutions are on your marker board this year?
